Snake ring

The prototype for this ring dates back to the later age of tribal migrations (7th century AD). It was found in Vesilahti, in the Pirkanmaa region. The spiral has cross-stitch ornamentation and easily recognizable snake-shaped motifs at both ends. Because snakes shed their skin, it was believed they were immortal. Featured in jewelry, the snake was a symbol of success and the course of life. The snake ring was also a symbol of power and courage.
